The Dove House was built in 1927 for Miss R.A. Dove by the renowned Colorado architect and engineer William N. Bowman. Some of Bowmans other works include the Denver Theater, Paramount Theater, Telegraph Building, Scottish Rite Temple and Fairplay Hotel. Miss Dove hosted many parties for some of Denvers most elite citizens and politicians; however, after the depression she was forced to return to her familys home in Washington D.C. and the house was vacant for the next 14 years. In 1946 Mr. Charles Parker and his wife, Florence purchased the house, where they raised two children, Patrick and Joan. In 1980 Mr. Parker passed away and Florence sold the house to Bob Charles, who owned a number McDonalds franchises. Mr. Charles used the house as his corporate offices until 1988. The house again sat vacant until October 1990 when it was purchased by Tom and Marie Jenkinson. The Jenkinsons were recently married and encountered much frustration planning their own wedding. They felt the house would make a wonderful place for weddings, as well as other social events, and immediately began restoration. In 1992 they added a 1500 square foot solarium with dance floor, a large bar room with a 1920s art-deco wet bar from the Hampden Hotel in Albany, New York and a domed stained glass skylight from a Coney Island boat ride, as well as a third restroom and three patios.
